About

History

Founded as Constantine College, the institution was officially opened by the Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VIII, on 2 July 1930. The University has grown significantly in recent years. Teesside University has regional offices in China, India, Malaysia and Nigeria and a global network.

Research

Teesside University Research addresses complex, multi and inter-disciplinary through to highly focused discipline based research. 

Across five thematic areas, the Grand Challenges have adopted a collaborative and multifaceted approach which enables the research to cross traditional discipline boundaries and provide the fresh thinking needed to help address some of the biggest national and global 'Grand Challenges' society today faces.

Teesside University has a strong track record of innovation in teaching and learning, and has embraced cutting-edge digital technology to completely change the way that our students learn, Future Facing Learning.

The Future Facing Learning approach puts us in a really good place to deliver online elements of your study. Wi-Fi is available campus wide.

Medical services

A range of individual support services and advice is available via Student & Library Services team. Healthcare providers are a short walk from campus and you can register with a local doctor when you have enrolled.

Campus life

The campus is located in a multicultural town centre, with University buildings, accommodation and facilities within walking distance. It is part way through a £300m investment in the campus, creating new, modern spaces and a safe and friendly place for you to focus on your studies. 

A short walk from campus you will find a variety of shops and supermarkets. If you are missing your home food, you will also find many international supermarkets selling authentic products close to the University. Halal food is very easy to find.

Sports facilities

There is no shortage of beautiful open outdoor space for physical activity and wellbeing. Enjoy 100 acres of quiet green space in nearby Albert Park, just a short walk from campus. 

Climb nearby Roseberry Topping for breathtaking views of Teesside. Enjoy long walks in the North York Moors, one of the largest expanses of heather moorland in the UK. Discover the spectacular coastline, ancient woodland and historic sites of our picturesque region, accessible by public transport.
