In 1891 T. G. Masaryk introduces a motion at the Imperial Council in Vienna calling for the establishment of a second Czech university in Moravia. Twenty years later, he submits a petition to the Council in support of the founding of a university in Brno.

Masaryk University consists of nine faculties and over 200 departments, institutes and clinics, encompassing a wide array of academic and research disciplines from the natural sciences to the humanities. A structured study system enables students to combine many fields of study in Bachelor’s degree programmes with Master’s and PhD programmes.

9 faculties, 1,400 fields of study and their combinations, an almost unlimited course offer. What is Masaryk University like? Multidisciplinary. Explore the study offer. Specialize, experiment and discover new challenges.

Masaryk University is a research-oriented institution of higher education. Its research activities are not limited to the Czech Republic: Masaryk University researchers work on every continent. The university even operates the first Czech Antarctic station where scientists are engaged in long-term research of the ecosystem.

We offer exciting career opportunities to academics, scientists and non-academic staff. Work conditions are frequently tailored according to the requirements of each individual. For example, mothers on maternity leave are eligible for various forms of part-time arrangements.

There are many optional study courses. Those that are compulsory try to give a student the right basics. There is always something to be better, but I can┬┤t complain much. Dentistry is quite specific in this.
