About

History

Established on 1 January 1991, Klaipėda University started with three faculties; currently, its academic provision is delivered by three faculties and three research and study institutes.

Education

The study programmes presently implemented at Klaipėda University provide advanced university education and high professional qualification. Klaipėda University seeks to educate future specialists and personalities, to develop humanist and cultural values, and to promote a maritime mentality in the city and the nation.

Research

Over 60 scientific research laboratories, a research vessel- laboratory Mintis, a research and training sailboat Brabander, and a yacht Odyssey as integral part of the KU marine research infra- structure play an important role in the University research activities.

The fact that it has courses in English even when the country is officially a non-English speaking country. It has to work on applying English speaking lecturers to teach because it’s difficult with the lecturers on ground…
