It was founded first in 1962 as a branch from the University of Alexandria with the faculty of Medicine only and then it became an independent university named University of the Middle Delta in 1972. It had at that time Medicine, Science, Agriculture and Education faculties. Then, its name was changed into Tanta University in 1973.

The interest in student housing and nutrition began with the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine in 1963/62, when housing began in the building of the College of Medicine itself, and the number of resident students and female students staying at that time was 80 students. A building was rented on Mathaf Street, which was designated as a university town for students.
So a large edifice was created in Saberby for nutrition (the central restaurant) in the middle of the city, female students of Saberby, and the city is students of Suburbai, and it consists of several floors for male and female students, and this building can accommodate about 2000 thousand students.

My academic journey at Tanta University, majoring in Mechanical Production Engineering, provided a rigorous theoretical foundation that fundamentally shaped my analytical mindset. The program excelled in delivering deep knowledge of heavy industrial mechanics and production systems, which seamlessly translated into my subsequent roles as a process engineer in both the automotive and petroleum sectors. While the curriculum was highly traditional and lacked robust exposure to modern digital integration and software tools, this gap actually served as a catalyst for my personal growth. It drove my initiative to independently master software development and modern technologies. Overall, the university instilled a resilient work ethic and solid engineering principles, while my self-driven efforts to bridge the gap between traditional industry and digital innovation have thoroughly prepared me for an advanced, modern academic environment in Europe.
The university, in terms of location and overall appearance, is very impressive, and the academic staff are highly qualified. However, attending lectures only twice a week, with a system of one week on campus and one week online, is not beneficial at all and does not support proper understanding of the course material. In addition, all textbooks are provided digitally, including certificates, and there is a noticeable lack of student activities. Moreover, the essay-based exam system does not encourage real comprehension or practical application of the curriculum. Instead, it forces students to memorize specific parts solely for the exam, without gaining real educational benefit.
