History
We have been serving the citizens of northwestern Ontario since 1967, by meeting the educational needs of students in a catchment area of 550,000 square kilometres – that’s about the size of France!

With highly-trained instructors, smaller class sizes and a dynamic learning environment, we offer practical, hands-on programs and courses that will give you the skills, knowledge and confidence you need to succeed.
Research
The Office of Applied Research works with educational institutions, government, industry, entrepreneurs, and community partners on practical applied research relevant to the region. Applied R&D will be supported by our system of collecting, and reporting information and knowledge. Through a dedication to research and innovative activities, we help promote community and economic development, improve educational program quality and delivery, enhance students’ learning experience, and foster professional development of faculty and staff.

Housing services
Thunder Bay has a variety of off-campus rental housing options including single homes, duplexes and apartments. Students wishing to live off-campus need to research availability on their own and should arrive well before the start of term to do so. While the International Education Centre is unable to arrange off-campus housing for interested students, we have prepared an Off-Campus Housing Guide that you will find helpful. Students can also connect with other international students looking for off-campus accommodation, by posting a note on our Facebook page. Existing students who may have a room available for rent also post on our Facebook page, so do check it out.
Campus life
Our main campus is situated on 130 acres of park-like property located right in the heart of the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Our campus has beautifully treed grounds, a shallow, twisting river and a network of walking paths.
Sports facilities
The Confederation College Wellness Centre is a modern multi-use facility with fitness equipment and spaces to promote students’ health and well-being and to provide a gathering place for students and the community.
