Medical University of the Americas was established in 1998 on the beautiful island of Nevis in the Caribbean. We believe that medicine is best taught in small classes where students can benefit from one-to-one instruction. As such, MUA’s faculty are committed to teaching and supporting the students and have exceptional qualifications in the study of medicine.

Initially, you will enroll on the Basic Sciences program which will provide you with foundational knowledge of the human body and how it behaves in states of health and disease. Across these first five semesters, you’ll also develop your clinical and research skills, both of which are vital for becoming an exemplary doctor.
You will then progress on to study Clinical Medicine which enables students to expand their foundational skills in a hospital setting and apply their knowledge to real life cases. The first 40 weeks will be dedicated to core rotations.
Whilst studying the MD program, you’ll be required to complete the Research: Literature Review and Analysis module. This module will help you to develop your ability to conduct and apply scientific research which is an important skill to have as a doctor. Knowledge of the human body and disease is always progressing, so it is vital you keep developing your understanding of the most contemporary research.
During this module, you’ll analyze and research a complex medical question, gather current research on an issue by reviewing medical literature and produce a paper on your findings.
Our program has been designed to help you become the best doctor possible and to ensure you have the skills to practice in your preferred field. Once you have completed the Basic Sciences curriculum, you’ll take the USMLE Step 1 exam.
Performing well on this exam is a major step in positioning you to achieve the residency you want. After Basic Sciences you’ll participate in core and clinical rotations during which time you will determine an area of specialty.
While successfully completing your electives you will be interviewing for residency positions that suit your skillset and interests. Residencies range between one and seven years and will equip you with the necessary knowledge to become an expert.

During your first semester, you’ll live in on-campus housing to help you settle into life at MUA. All of our dorms come equipped with beds, private bathrooms, air conditioning, refrigerators, microwaves and many other amenities.
From your second through to your fifth semester, you will probably rent a home on Nevis, along with other medical students. To make sure you’re comfortable in your accommodation, you’ll need to check which furnishings are provided and what you’re expected to bring yourself.
Medical University of the Americas has a fully equipped medical library to help you get through your studies You’ll have access to full text journals online as a result of MUA’s subscriptions to major research publications. A learning resource center also exists within the library where you can access videotapes, models, tutorial materials as well as specialized computer programs.
The MUA campus is equipped with Wi-Fi and an IT department for troubleshooting. You’ll also have access to Panopto where you can find recordings of lectures.
MUA students receive healthcare from local physicians. There is also a walk-in clinic at the island hospital.
Our campus is based on Nevis, a beautiful volcanic island in the heart of the Caribbean. The island is small, just 36 square miles, meaning everything you need is within an accessible distance. The campus looks out over the beach, so you’ll be able to relax after a long day of studying by either snorkeling or diving.
MUA has excellent facilities for students including a wide array of labs with cadavers, lecture theaters, classrooms as well as patient examination rooms. All facilities are equipped with the latest multimedia learning equipment and are fully air-conditioned. Students have access to our test center which simulates the conditions of the USMLE Step 1 to ensure you can practice before the real exam.
Medical University of the Americas is home to many different organizations, all of which are recognized by the Student Government Association. These include Christians on Campus, Muslim Student Association, Black Student Association, South Asian Students Association, Surgical Student Association and Spouses of Students.
Medical University of the Americas’ MD program is accredited by the accrediting body for Nevis, the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM). It is also accredited by the St Kitts and Nevis Accreditation Board. MUA also have approvals from the key states of New York, Florida and California.

Actually am now in the university but I get a little bit experience like am not that good at mathematics but now I am getting better , am somehow slow at understanding but now it has change a lot bit and so many other things has changed about my study life
I seek biotechnology here. About molecular biology, methods in molecular biology, microbiology etc. Yeah it was good
