History
The origins of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (WULS – SGGW)* date back to 1816, to the creation of the Institute of Agronomy in Marymont, the first agricultural institution of higher education in Poland and only the fourth one in Europe.
Education
WULS – SGGW has obtained the glorious title of “A Student friendly university”. It is worth mentioning that our graduates are satisfied with the choices they have made. Great majority declares that they would chose the same school and faculty if such decision was to be made for the second time.
We guarantee not only the highest level of workshops and lectures, the possibility of spending your free time in a creative way, with access to all university resources, but also enjoyable student life.
Research
Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW (WULS-SGGW) conducts a multi-faceted business and scientific - research aimed at solving current problems of the national economy, especially in agriculture and related fields. Among the ongoing research directions feature to the following areas of research:
- the impact of external factors on the rural environment with particular emphasis on soil environment;
- improvement of methods for the production of plants including integrated protection;
- landscape architecture-integration and evaluation of natural, cultural and social changes in the human environment;

University Ranking
Student services
International Relations Office in content-related matters is subordinate to the Vice-rector for International Cooperation.
The responsibilities of the Office include:
- Issues relating to the organization of international exchange of academic staff and students of WULS-SGGW
- Issues related to cooperation of WULS-SGGW with universities and other institutions abroad, as well as cooperation in creating the foreign policy of the University
- handling matters of public procurement related to the issues of International Relations Office
- correspondence and general matters of International Cooperation
Library services
The Library of Warsaw University of Life Sciences was established in 1911. At first its collections were stored in several locations and only after moving them to the building in Rakowiecka Street in 1933 the Library staff were able to begin their systematic integration and development as well as hire more qualified employees; in August 1939 the Library collections consisted of 42,000 items.
Campus life
The campus has a historic part, with an 18th century palace, and a contemporary part where all faculty buildings and dormitories are situated. WULS-SGGW offers good facilities and infrastructure in one place. On our 70-hectare main campus we have 12 dormitories, a modern library, a sports centre (with tennis courts, a sports hall and a swimming pool) a language centre, a veterinary clinic and much more.
The campus is located in the southern part of Warsaw and can be easily reached from the city centre by subway or by bus. Over 1,300 university teachers and instructors make sure that you will gain plenty of knowledge and practical skills.

Modern sports facilities (indoor swimming pool, sports halls, indoor tennis courts, gym, sports, hippotherapy center).
Student clubs
Our Student Scientific Association unites animal lovers with different interest that want to gain experience and knowledge and share it with others.
We strive to educate people, especially children, how to responsibly and rationally handle keeping and breeding domestic animals. At the same time we try to popularize polish fauna and raise awareness about worldwide animal related issues.
The Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA) awarded the veterinary medicine study program at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (full cycle master's studies) at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences with the Certificate of Educational Excellence.
