History
Since our formation in 1812, we have sustained the intention of our founders to provide education for Christian ministry that is scholarly, pastoral, and engaged with contemporary life. In July 2010, Union-PSCE changed its name to Union Presbyterian Seminary to reflect a new vision for its future, signifying the new creation in which God is calling this historic seminary to participate.
Education
Our graduate degree programs place emphasis on deep theological study, inventive learning and real world experiences that prepare students for faith leadership in ordained pastoral, educational and community ministries.
Career
Our graduates serve as pastors of Christian congregations, directors of Christian education, chaplains, international mission workers, social workers, camp directors, and professors of Bible, theology, or religious studies at colleges, universities, and seminaries.

Our Charlotte campus is nestled in the heart of the Queen City, Charlotte, North Carolina. Although we are not a residential campus, we do have many wonderful amenities to offer students who are commuting on the weekends.
Library services
The William Smith Morton Library is a prize-winning example of the adaptive reuse of an historic building for a new purpose. The Glave and Holmes architectural firm found a way to double the size of the previous building on this site and completely update its interior, without losing its Southern Gothic character or unique details.
Campus life
The Richmond campus is a tranquil space for observation and interaction with nature that stirs theological reflection. It is located in the historic Ginter Park section of the City of Richmond, Virginia. This historic neighborhood, which is located on the north side of the city consists of beautifully tree lined streets that serve as the background for homes that represent classical architectural design over the past one hundred fifty years.

In addition to the sound theological education students receive at Union Presbyterian Seminary, our students can enjoy a nurturing sense of community, great fellowship and fun!
Accreditation
Union Presbyterian Seminary is accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award degrees at the master’s and doctoral levels.
We also are accredited by the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada.
