The mission of Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology is the initial and ongoing formation of priests, permanent deacons, and laity to minister together effectively in the service and evangelization of the Roman Catholic Church and the world.

History

Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology has grown out of the school first established here in 1857 by Benedictine monks who came from the Swiss Abbey of Einsiedeln to establish a seminary in southern Indiana.

Complete overview of scholarships

Housing services

Three residence halls provide for seminarian housing. St. Gregory Hall, Benet Hall and St. Anselm Hall have private rooms with baths. Returning students can select their rooms through a student-run lottery in the spring of each academic year. 

ICT services

All Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology students are provided with network and email accounts. Access to the Internet is through the campus network including network ports in student rooms.

Public workstations and printers are available in

  • Student Productivity Centers in seminarian housing areas
  • Graduate Theology Student Computer Lab in St. Anselm Hall
  • Archabbey Library

Medical services

The Saint Meinrad Health Service provides professional care to full-time students at all times. A school physician also is on call when needed. The fee for these services is included in the tuition for seminarians and full-time Graduate Theology students. Several local hospitals provide hospitalization for serious illness or injury.

Accreditation

The school is accredited by the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada. The following degree programs are approved: Master of Divinity, Master of Arts (Catholic Philosophical Studies), Master of Arts (Theology), and Master of Arts (Pastoral Theology).
