History
Founded in 1985 by Françoise and Jean-Marie Schmitt, the Institut d’Études Supérieures des Arts (IESA) is a private educational group based in Paris, France. It has been officially recognized by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication since 1998.
Education
The programs in all three departments of our international art school combine academic knowledge with practical skills, in the form of internships and projects. Professors, curators, professionals and consultants all participate in this two-pronged pedagogical approach, designed to train students for the professional world.
Career
The transition to working life is facilitated by the internship office and the teaching staff, who provide students with individual guidance throughout the job-finding process. In addition, each student is paired with a mentor who helps with important professional decisions.
- IESA’s professional network in France and abroad includes professors (more than 350 per year), partner organizations, and 14,000 alumni. It allows students to be at the center of artistic and cultural discussions, innovations, and projects, and benefit from useful contacts.

Housing services
As IESA does not have a hall of residence, students generally live in various parts of the city, in Independent Rooms or with French families or landlords or in a student residence. The school does however offer assistance by providing information and referring students to services, associations and websites.
Campus life
- Internationalization of our programs in France on our campuses which bring together students from all four corners of the globe, and abroad with our various international partners.
