The New York Academy of Art was founded in 1982 by artists, scholars and patrons of the arts, including Andy Warhol, to foster a resurgence in the training of figurative and representational art. The Academy has since developed into a non-profit cultural institution housing the nation’s first graduate school of figurative art, a continuing education program.

The Academy Library provides written, visual, and electronic resources to meet the intellectual and creative needs of the academy’s community of artists. Through specialized collections, bibliographic instruction, and outstanding services, the Library is a space for technical study, critical exploration, and equips students with the skills necessary to embark on learning and artistic growth.
The New York Academy of Art is institutionally accredited by the New York State Board of Regents (Regents) and the New York State Commissioner of Education acting under their standing as a nationally recognized accrediting agency. The Academy was granted an Absolute Charter on June 24, 1994, by the Board of Regents of The University of the State of New York, for and on behalf of the State Education Department, and executed under the seal of said University and recorded as Number 21,661.

The best studying program is Digital Arts. The professors are amazing and the variety of subjects is unique. It is time-consuming to study so many different skills all at once but it is definitely worth it. The only con in my opinion is the very old state of the building but I was informed it is going to be completely rebuild.
A great place to learn new skills in a classical way
My university is a traditional institution with very high values and professional experience. It will teach you discipline, creativity, problem-solving and development in your style as an artist.
