Arkansas Tech University is a public institution of higher education offering credentials at the certificate, associate, baccalaureate, master, educational specialist and doctoral levels. It was founded in 1909 as the Second District Agricultural School and its Russellville campus conducted its first day of classes on Oct. 26, 1910.
ATU curriculum is approved by the ATU Board of Trustees and the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Together, the ATU faculty, staff, Board of Trustees and Coordinating board work to ensure Arkansas Tech fosters an environment where students succeed, innovation thrives and communities flourish.
The Center for Undergraduate Research at ATU serves the student population by providing information about research opportunities, funding of student research, and developing research skills for the future. In line with the ATU Strategic Plan, the Center for Undergraduate Research strives to achieve the goals outlined under Goal 1 (1.9 and 1.10). Ultimately, our goal is to empower and enable students to gain valuable research experience and skills that can be equipped for a meaningful and satisfying future upon graduation
Built in 1972, the Career Center has undergone extensive remodeling and additions to become one of the largest secondary career and technical centers in Arkansas. The Career Center draws students from 11 area high schools in Pope, Yell and Johnson counties, including Russellville, Dover, Pottsville, Hector, Atkins, Dardanelle, Danville, Two Rivers, Western Yell County, Lamar and Clarksville high schools.

The Student Services staff members at Arkansas Tech University are dedicated to helping students accomplish academic and personal goals. We recognize that students are individuals who may need assistance in clarifying or establishing goals, as well as help in eliminating the barriers which may hinder their academic progress.

Our staff is committed to the concepts of wellness and prevention and to providing quality treatment.
While academic achievement leading to graduation is the reason for attending Arkansas Tech University, the experiences that students have outside the classroom prove to have a lifelong impact. The Arkansas Tech Student Government Association serves as the official student voice to the Arkansas Tech University administration. Our mission is to genuinely represent the interests of students and enhance the student decision-making process, to improve campus life through the creation and continuation of viable and effective student services, to preserve and protect the traditions of the University, and to support students and student organizations in their academic and community endeavors.
Arkansas Tech University is accredited through the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association. Tech has maintained continuous accreditation since 1930 and our last reaffirmation visit occurred during the 2010-2011 academic year. Our next reaffirmation visit will occur during the 2020-2021 academic year.
