Housing services

The North Shore serves as home to America’s oldest, working artist colony, ensuring that Montserrat’s housing is nestled in a community rich with history and artistic inspiration. Residence houses have two or more bedrooms and offer the independence of apartment-style living, with most accommodating a minimum of four students. Each house has a private bath, kitchen and living room. Trained residential staff are on hand to assist students with any problems, and all college housing is conveniently located within walking distance of Montserrat’s academic and studio facilities.

Library services

Montserrat’s Paul M. Scott Library aims to inspire lifelong learning and promote literacy in a wide range of subject through exceptional library services and collections. Through the acquisition and care of print, electronic and audiovisual materials the library supports the College’s education mission while meeting the needs of Montserrat’s community.

ICT services

Our computer labs are outfitted with current generation iMacs. We also offer color and grayscale laser printers, several professional quality printers, a variety of flatbed and film scanners, drawing tablets and other technology to meet students’ needs.

Medical services

In the health center, services are provided with a focus on individual wellness and overall prevention. The nurse, Sheryl Max, RN, is on campus Monday – Thursday, during the academic year, to assist students with any health-related concerns.

Campus life

Every student at Montserrat College of Art is viewed as a whole artist, someone with tremendous talent and potential. We pride ourselves on being a small art college where you are valued as both individuals and members of a supportive and inclusive community. The relationships you will establish here and the life skills you will cultivate will be with you for a lifetime.

Student clubs

At Montserrat, students follow their interests. If there is a club or activity it is because some inspired student or group of students took the initiative to launch it. Instead of being top-down, groups are generated from the ground up, and grow as new communities of students join our campus community with similar interests and fresh enthusiasm.

It’s easy to start or to join a club – just check out the Annual Club Fair at the beginning of the year! Below is our most recent club roster:

  • Comic Book Club
  • Concept Art Club
  • Drama Club
  • Garden Club
  • Imaginary Battlefield
  • LARP Club
  • Monty DFTBA Club
  • Project Montserrat
  • Radio Club
  • Sketchbook Club
  • Smash Bros. Club
  • Student Voice

Accreditation

Montserrat College of Art is an accredited, non-profit, independent art school, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design; and by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc., through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education to award the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
