Muhlenberg College

Muhlenberg College was initially established in 1848 as the Allentown Seminary by Reverend Samuel K. Brobst, a Reformed Lutheran minister. Reverend Christian Rudolph Kessler was the school's first teacher and administrator.

Faculty in the Biology Department direct active research labs. Many students elect to carry out independent research alongside a faculty member. Research may be carried out during the academic year, during the summer, or both. Both on and off-campus research opportunities are available and may be interdisciplinary.

The results of student-faculty collaborations are presented in on-campus poster sessions, the Departmental seminar series, and at annual professional meetings. Many students have co-authored and published research articles with faculty mentors.

Muhlenberg's Career Center assists students in exploring careers, finding jobs and seeking admission to graduate school. Students are encouraged to begin using the office as early as their first year.

The Career Resource Library houses an extensive collection of books, directories and job-related information. Programs like "Where the Jobs Are," "Interview Like A Pro" and "Writing Awesome Cover Letters" help students enhance job-seeking skills.
