About

History

The story of our university began with its founding in September of 1857, when the first students arrived to study at its predecessor, Assumption College.

In the more than 150 years that have since passed, the small, liberal arts college has grown into today's non-denominational, comprehensive, teaching and learning university.

Education

At the University of Windsor, you'll join an academic community that's fully invested in your success, whether you're a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree candidate or a part-time certificate or Executive Education student.

As a mid-size university supporting 16,000 students, UWindsor provides a broad range of academic opportunities. As an undergraduate or graduate student, you can choose from over 120 majors and minors and 55 master's and doctoral degrees in subjects like Engineering, Forensics and Business.

Research

Our focus is on supporting and promoting research at the University of Windsor, in all faculties, schools, and research centres and institutes. This is accomplished by a variety of means. The Office of Research and Innovation Services staff members provide services in:

  • Identifying funding sources and research opportunities for faculty
  • Providing information about funding sources, programs, deadlines, application material, regulations and policies
  • Acting as liaison with funding agencies on behalf of researchers
  • Reviewing applications for research grants to insure consistency with the agency’s conditions and the University’s policies
  • Assisting in the development, submission and tracking of grant proposals and contracts

Our team of professionals bring expertise in career planning, job search strategies, resume writing, interview preparation, and labour market information. They are here to help you build bridges between the classroom and the world of work by supporting your career development and connecting you with resources and opportunities to prepare for whatever your goal for after your time at University of Windsor might be.Learn more about your interests, skills, and values and how to link them to possible careers. Student services

The student experience at the University of Windsor really is unique. One of our key defining features is the degree to which we provide international engagement for all those who choose to study at Windsor.

Our students engage with others around the world through:

  • Joining one or more of our international clubs and organizations
  • Enrolling in an internationally-focused or internationally-delivered academic program
  • Connecting with some of our internationally-trained professors

Housing services

Our residence halls are conveniently located throughout the campus where it's only a short walk to food outlets, recreational facilities, library, Registrars, Bookstore, student centre and banks. Bedrooms are furnished so there’s no need to purchase items such as a bed, desk, lamp or chairs. If you choose to live off campus, the University of Windsor Students Alliance maintains a list of off-campus housing.

Library services

The Leddy Library is the main Library for the University of Windsor campus.

Take your laptop outside and log on to Blackboard over our high-speed wireless campus network.

Medical services

The clinic at Student Health Services is a medical practice. The clinic can take care of all your health care needs providing confidential, student-centred health care, including comprehensive medical care, counselling, and referrals. This is student life at the University of Windsor. In our residence halls and restaurants, you'll bond with new friends from around the world. You'll bring your best game to our top-notch athletics facilities. And don't worry if you join a few too many clubs and student organizations.

Sports facilities

The Campus Recreation program incorporates a number of health and fitness activities, from ballroom dancing to martial arts, cardio and aerobic workouts to intramural sports. It will enrich your University experience and foster a lifetime of wellness.

Student clubs

The University of Windsor offers numerous groups, clubs, and societies on campus for undergraduate students. They include academic groups, faculty societies, fraternities and sororities, athletic clubs, and a large variety of other niche activity groups

All students receive automatic membership to the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance, which represents undergraduate students from every faculty at the University of Windsor.
