History
Since being established in 1977, Dalarna University has experienced rapid growth and today is the place of study for about 16 000 students and has close to 800 employees. Our two campuses - one based in Falun, one in Borlänge - offer a wide range of educational opportunities.
Education
We aim to promote an environment founded on the equal value of the individual. Everyone shall have access to higher education regardless of external factors. One facilitator of this is the fact we have developed our virtual campus to allow for flexible studies wherever you live and whenever you can study. We offer open-learning forums and environments that are web-based, with many of our resources being accessible 24 hours a day. Using digital technology, we have created sustainable, global meeting places that allow for personal development and educational opportunities.
Research
The close collaboration we have with business and industry, including the public sector, means that our research is up-to-date and relevant. Applied research ensures that high quality is maintained. Our research profiles involve researchers from a number of departments as well as researchers from other institutes of higher education, in both Sweden as well as other countries.
Career
Dalarna University is a small but vibrant institute of higher education that welcomes diversity and innovation. With a workforce of about 750 (full-time and part-time), it is one of the largest employers in the province of Dalarna.

Together, these institutions make for a creative and industrious hub. Also neighbouring the campus is the indoor shopping centre Kupolen.
- Campus Falun is located just outside the town centre in an area called Lugnet. Here, sporting opportunities and nature are immediately accessible: deep forests with ski trails and walks can be found beside impressive and modern sporting facilities with a hockey arena, swimming pool, gymnasium, tennis courts - indeed facilities to suit all sporting interests.

It is close to the Lugnet Nature Reserve and a wide range of sporting facilities including ski trails and walking trails, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, and indoor and outdoor tennis facilities.
