BIMM has a long history in music – over 35 years of excellence, in fact. From our beginnings as Drumtech in London in 1983, to the opening of BIMM Hamburg in 2018, our musical journey has been one of continual growth, culminating in our position today as one of the largest providers of modern music education in Europe.

Research at the University primarily focuses on creative arts and industries practices. Research in this instance can be described as practice research. Practice research is a type of research where practice is the primary methodological approach conveyed in a research output, and a research narrative articulates the research inquiry that has emerged in practice.
Practice research exists across and beyond the traditional boundaries of subject disciplines. However, this definition can also be refined to include practice-based research, where a creative artefact is the basis of the contribution to knowledge and practice-led research, where investigation primarily leads to new understandings about practice.
BIMM inspires the next generation of industry professionals through the creation of inclusive and creative learning environments that remove barriers and create opportunities for equal participation in the creative industries.

At BIMM, each College has a Student Services Team designed to help you with all aspects of student life both inside and outside of the classroom. The teams are here for you if you need some advice and guidance on health and wellbeing, housing and finance, support for your learning or just want to ask a question which you’re too afraid to ask in the classroom. We’re here to support you, whatever the circumstances.
What can you expect?
Throughout your time here, you’ll have access to online learning tools, such as our digital library, which provides access to digital versions of key subject texts and supplementary web resources. Every student will also log on to Canvas, our Virtual Learning Environment, to access learning resources, submit work and receive feedback.
At BIMM, we are continually investing in our campuses and – with this in mind – we’re delighted to announce the expansion of our BIMM London campus on Effie Road in Fulham, to include a new cafe and social space for students and additional teaching and tutorial space.
These new expansion plans have come at a very exciting time for BIMM with other several significant developments happening across the Group including the opening of BIMM Birmingham in the city’s bohemian Digbeth area.
Courses are delivered at eight city-based campuses located across the UK, Ireland, and Germany.

I loved the course and the lecturers but i would definitely say that communication could have been better. Overall i would definitely recommend to someone looking at working in events, but less so to someone wanting to work in marketing / business roles.
Courses are lacking a lot of content, most lessons feel improvised. Some lecturers are really good at what they do, but its a hit or miss, most of them do not really care about teaching music. Only good thing about BIMM is that you will meet very good musicians that you can play and learn with, as you will not be getting much content from your lessons. If you are already an experienced musician you will get a lot from the networking opportunities BIMM provides, but if you are looking to seriously improve before going out to the professional music world you will find yourself stuck within a couple months of starting the course.
