From a network of laboratories spanning from the Allegheny Mountains to the Atlantic Ocean, University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science scientists work to understand and manage the world’s resources, provide sound advice to help state and national leaders manage the environment, and prepare future scientists to meet the global challenges of the 21st century.   

Every year more than 80 graduate students work side-by-side with some of the best environmental scientists in the world. Studying everything from the effects of development on stream ecosystems to new ways to feed fish in aquaculture, these men and women are training to solve environmental problems today so we have a better world tomorrow.
