History
One of the world’s leading health sciences universities, the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), dates its founding to 1864, when South Carolina surgeon Hugh Toland founded a private medical school in San Francisco.

Career Advisors are UCSF faculty who have been selected by their department to advise medical students through the specialty selection and residency application process. Confidential Advisors are not part of their department's residency intern selection committee.

The mission of the Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA) is to serve the collective interests of graduate and professional students at UCSF in order to improve student life on a university and system wide level through dialogue, action, and activities between students, faculty, and staff.
Housing services
Student accommodations are determined on a case by case basis, depending on the student's specific needs and disability. We will never blanket deny or approve accommodations based on previous cases/students.
Although accommodation needs vary between individuals, there are some common accommodations for students with disabilities. Where appropriate these may include, but are not limited to:
