National University of Singapore

The National University of Singapore aspires to be a vital community of academics, researchers, staff, students and alumni working together in a spirit of innovation and enterprise for a better world.

History

The National University of Singapore started out as a modest medical school with 23 students in 1905, founded by a determined group of businessmen led by Tan Jiak Kim, to serve the needs of the local community. Today, more than 100 years on, as Singapore’s flagship university, we continue to be in service of country and society. Learn more about our rich heritage and leaders of this institution.

Education

Infinite possibilities. We offer a global and Asian experience that is broad, deep and rigorous. An NUS education is recognised as among the best in Asia, and the world. Your enrolment at NUS is valid 20 years from the point of undergraduate admission. Alumni are automatically eligible for lifelong learning courses. Whichever undergraduate or graduate programme you choose, your experience will be intellectually fulfilling within and outside the classroom.

Research

At NUS, we push boundaries to achieve research excellence through multiple disciplines. We have adopted an integrated approach that brings together researchers from diverse fields. Through the combined strength of our faculties, schools, research institutes and centres, we have built eight integrative research clusters. These are ageing, Asian studies, biomedical science and translational medicine, finance and risk management, integrative sustainability solutions, maritime, materials science and smart nation.

Career

NUS-ISS Career Services Unit supports our students, alumni and all executive programmes participants seeking career-course advisory and job placement support. Our career consultants are always ready to help students to understand their career aspirational and developmental needs; and to help in their placement to suitable job opportunities.

Prestigious university - learning is in your hands
Anonymous rated 4 out of 5 stars

Pros: - Great branding (one of the top universities in Southeast Asia) - Relatively easy coursework (As a business major, I spend about a third of my week studying and the rest working) - Qualify under the High Potential Individual visa that UK is handing out (all NUS students can apply to get a visa to work/ live in the UK for 2 years). I don’t expect NUS to be...

The only problem was the national institutional perception of liberal arts and its incompatibility with...
