Located in historic Providence, Rhode Island and founded in 1764, Brown University is the seventh-oldest college in the United States.


Undergraduates pursue bachelor’s degrees in more than 70 concentrations, ranging from Egyptology to cognitive neuroscience. Anything’s possible at Brown—the university’s commitment to undergraduate freedom means students must take responsibility as architects of their courses of study.

Student services

Offers support for personal or community issues, crisis support 24 hours a day, and houses the Office of Student Conduct.

Housing services

First-year undergrads live with a roommate in close-knit “units” of 50 to 60 first-years. Through an annual “housing lottery,” students in upper years pick their exact room, whether a private single or with friends in a suite or apartment.

Library services

The Brown University Library advances instruction, learning, and research in the University by providing critical expertise, curated collections, and responsive technology and spaces in an environment of creativity and inclusivity. 

ICT services

IT at Brown consists of:

  • a centralized IT department, Computing & Information Services (CIS)
  • several larger departments with their own IT groups
  • distributed IT professionals in academic and administrative departments

Medical services

Offers comprehensive health care for students: routine care and “well visits,” as well as care for illness. Services include pharmacy, lab, x-ray, immunizations, health education and Brown EMS. Medical advice and emergency services available around the clock.

Student Life

Campus life

Providence is the state capital and second largest city in New England. Diverse and historic, bicycle friendly, and easy to explore by foot, Providence is an active center of art, culture, education, and politics.

Brown is located in Providence’s East Side on the picturesque College Hill, surrounded by dozens of historic homes and landmarks. Close to campus are the vibrant Thayer Street, Wickenden Street, and Wayland Square, where students and residents find ample shopping, dining and entertainment.

Sports facilities

Work out in the fitness centers. Take one of more than 64 physical education courses in aerobics, fitness, martial arts, dance or yoga. Form an intramural team or join one of 17 Club Sports, which offer a high level of competition without the rigorous time commitment of varsity sports. Student clubs

Student organizations embody the energy, focus, and innovation of Brown students. The large number of clubs (formed and run by students) reflects the community’s diversity of interests. It’s easy to get involved.

ArtsBrown has a cappella groups, improv and sketch comedy, dance groups, student-produced plays and musicals, The Brown Band, and many other ways to express your creative side.SportsYou don’t have to be a varsity athlete to stay active. Every 10 years, Brown undergoes a process of reaccreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), one of six geographically based non-governmental, non-profit organizations recognized by the US Department of Education as a reliable authority on the quality of educational institutions and programs. Brown’s next accreditation review will occur in 2018, and requires extensive preparation. This site will capture the reaccreditation process.

I would recommend this particular College because the educational team is competent. The teaching given is done in a motivating way even if it's intensive. Moreover, the College offers many activities outside of class.
