Gannon College of Arts and Sciences, founded as Cathedral College under the 1925 charter of Villa Maria College, was established by then-Archbishop John Mark Gannon, who in 1941 purchased one of the most elegant buildings in downtown Erie—the Strong Mansion (now known as Gannon’s "Old Main")—as the current campus’ central site.

Through a $13,000 grant, faculty and students will conduct research surrounding triathlon athletes, analyzing muscle movement and reaction forces.
Through career education initiatives, the team presents career exploration and readiness assistance in partnership with faculty, students and other members of the community. All students and alumni are invited to engage in one-on-one meetings with advisors and participate in both on and off-campus career events including employer visits and fairs.

One of the activities on campus that most International students are involved with is the Global Unity at Gannon University (GU Squared).We are located in Pennsylvania's fourth largest city and one of the busiest ports on the Great Lakes. Gannon’s urban campus, in the middle of downtown Erie, is within a two hour drive of Cleveland, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh. Our unique location and facilities create a special atmosphere conducive to learning, scholarship, research, service, and personal growth.
The Msgr. Wilfrid J. Nash Library provides resources, services, facilities, and instructional programs in support of the University curricula and the scholarly needs and interests of the Gannon community.
Wireless networking is available in all Gannon buildings. The wireless in all Gannon residence halls was recently upgraded to support the latest wireless technology with speeds up to 300Mbps. This network also accommodates a variety of other wireless devices including gaming consoles, media players, tablets and smartphones.
The Student Health Services Office at Gannon is an ambulatory care facility. Our work within the field of higher education is to promote wellness and conserve the time of the students for their classwork and studies by preventing and treating minor illnesses and injuries. A nurse practitioner is available at the Health Center during the Fall and Spring semesters.
The University provides a variety of programming for each building in addition to the programming provided by other University constituents. These programs are designed to meet the student needs for the specific building culture and are based on the LIFECORE model, which includes social, political, physical, emotional, sexual, intellectual, spiritual, cultural, and life-planning areas.
The University housing regulations mandate that all students studying in their first through fourth semesters whose parents/guardians primary residence is outside the 25-mile radius of the University must reside in University housing.
As an integral part of the overall Recreation and Wellness Department, the Sport Clubs Program supports the common interests of students pursuing particular sport activities as a means of skill and social development and competitive play.
