History
DigiPen was founded by Claude Comair in 1988 in Vancouver, British Columbia, as a computer simulation and animation company. As the demand for work increased, Mr. Comair faced difficulty in finding qualified personnel who not only had a fundamental understanding of computer science but were versed in the latest digital technology as well.

- Where will you go from there? DigiPen alumni have proven to be among the most sought-after employees in the games, simulation, and film industries and beyond. In addition to being credited on well over 1,000 commercial game titles, they continue to push the boundaries of what technology can accomplish.
- Employment projections anticipate more than 10,000 new jobs to the Spanish interactive entertainment industry by 2019.

Housing services
DigiPen is happy to assist students who are relocating to attend DigiPen Europe Bilbao. We can put students into contact with current or incoming students to find roommates and connect students with local real-estate services who can help students find apartments for rent.Typically, most students choose to live in Portugalete, Santurtzi, and Zierbena, which are nearby towns that have easy transportation services to and from the campus.
Library services
The DigiPen Library (also called the Learning Resource Center) aims to provide high-quality learning materials to support the Institute’s curriculum, students, and faculty. Students have access to a variety of resources such as books, e-books, DVDs, board games, video games, and reference books relevant to their programs of study.
Campus life
In September 2018, DigiPen Institute of Technology Europe-Bilbao moved into its new, modern campus at BETA 1, a building repurposed and renovated as part of the innovative Zorrotzaurre urban regeneration project in the heart of Bilbao’s Deusto district. These new facilities offer more space to expand the Institute’s academic programs and enrollment while maintaining the same state-of-the-art equipment and amenities that students and faculty have come to expect. DigiPen Europe-Bilbao’s workspaces and labs are designed with collaborative projects in mind, simulating the work environments found in real-world, professional studios.
Accreditation
DigiPen Institute of Technology – Europe Bilbao is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) as a branch campus of DigiPen Institute of Technology located in Redmond, Washington, USA. ACCSC is a recognized accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education.ACCSC’s mission is to serve as a reliable authority on educational quality and to promote enhanced opportunities for students by establishing, sustaining, and enforcing valid standards and practices which contribute to the development of a highly trained and competitive workforce through quality career-oriented education.
