Overview
The Architectural Studies programme at the University of Toronto provides a comprehensive foundation in the design, history, and technology of the built environment. This undergraduate degree encourages students to engage with architecture as both a professional discipline and a critical cultural practice. By bridging technical skills with theoretical knowledge, the curriculum prepares graduates to address complex challenges in urbanisation and sustainability.
Why Architectural Studies at the University of Toronto?
Students benefit from a unique interdisciplinary environment at the Daniels Faculty, where design thinking complements the university's strengths in the sciences and humanities. Programme Structure
- While the disciplines of architecture and art are understood to be distinct, we take advantage of the symbiotic relationship between them by offering a series of first year courses that students in both the Architectural Studies and Visual Studies are encouraged to take.
- The series includes two lecture courses in the history of architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design; architecture studio about the design process; a workshop-based course on artistic production (Visual Strategies); and a lecture course on contemporary art practice and critical discourse.
