Overview

The Engineering (Honours) in Environmental Engineering course from from University of Wollongong first year of study allows you to learn more about engineering and its various fields. From your second year, you will focus on your chosen major, while in your third and fourth year of the major you will branch into more specialised areas.

Environmental engineers assess, plan and manage human impact on the natural and built environment in a sustainable manner. They identify problems and apply engineering knowledge and skills to develop solutions that are ethical and socially responsible. They design and operate processes and equipment for the supply of sustainable water, land, energy, waste, and transport, considering the systems' full life cycle. Environmental engineers work with interdisciplinary teams in consulting firms, regulatory authorities, in all levels of governments, and in research and development.

In your third and fourth year of the major you will branch into more specialised areas including water quality engineering, air and noise pollution control, solid and hazardous waste management, membrane science and technology, environmental engineering design, and site remediation engineering.
