This Environmental Geoscience degree from University of Bristol examines the interactions between the geology, biology, chemistry and physics of Earth’s surface, oceans and atmosphere. It gives you a deep understanding of Earth’s environment and how it can be influenced by human activities.

About

In years one and two of the  Environmental Geoscience degree from University of Bristol you gain a firm grounding in earth sciences, building your knowledge to inform your choice of third and fourth year options, which have recently included Oceanography, Economic Geology, and Climates and Ecosystems. You will also complete an independent field and laboratory project and an industry-standard environmental impact study.

You will spend half of your final year on a major earth science research project. A number of our previous students’ project reports have been published in scientific journals.

Our close links with industry ensure that the skills you gain during your studies are valued by employers. Recent partners include Shell, Chevron, Reykjavik Energy, Atkins, Environmental Resources Management and EDF.

We have a tightly knit community and a programme of student-run projects, informal seminars and social events. Our courses include field trips in the UK and overseas, the cost of which is included in your tuition fee. You will be invited on a field trip just before your first term starts, so you can get to know your year group before lectures begin.

  • A-level Contextual offer: ABC including AB (in any order) in a core science/mathematics subject and another science-related subject
  • Science practicals: A pass in the practical element of all English examination board science A-levels is expected.
  • Cambridge Pre-U offer: Requirements are as for A-levels, where Grade A* is D2, A is D3, B is M2, and C is M3
