Overview

As well as gaining first-hand exposure to pioneering research, in your third year you will have a wide choice of options from across engineering and mathematics to fit your interests.

A major focus of the Engineering Mathematics programme offered at the University of Bristol is real-world problem solving, spanning many different application areas from robotics and social media to medicine and environmental modelling. Problems come directly from our industrial collaborators or address real challenges in current research. By working on these case studies and using theory and techniques from other units, you will be able to develop your mathematical modelling, collaboration and communication skills.

You can choose to complete a final-year project, which provides a showcase for your degree. This is a highly creative, challenging and enjoyable experience that is excellent preparation for your future career.

    PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. Delivered and marked by computer, it reports on a scale between 10 and 90.

  • A-level Standard offer: AAA including Mathematics  or A AB including A in Mathematics
  • A-level Contextual offer: ABB including A in Mathematics
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma Standard offer: 36 points overall with 18 at Higher Level, including 6 at Higher Level in Mathematics
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma Contextual offer: 32 points overall with 16 at Higher Level, including 6 at Higher Level in Mathematics
  • Cambridge Pre-U offer: Requirements are as for A-levels, where Grade A* is D2, A is D3, B is M2, and C is M3
  • BTEC offer: DDD in Engineering plus either A in A-level Mathematics or achieving the required level in the University of Bristol Mathematics Test
