Who is it for?
This BSc Mathematics (Hone) course from City, University of London is for those who are interested in the application of abstract and logical mathematical methods to a wide variety of problems.
By studying this course you will gain the mathematical skills necessary for a wide variety of careers in the The Civil Service, government agencies, research establishments, large
corporations, public utilities and financial companies.
Objectives
The course is designed to provide you with a deep understanding of various fields of mathematics with a special emphasis on how these mathematical theories and techniques can be applied to real-world problems.
You have the opportunity to undertake a one-year paid placement scheme. Placements are paid up to £25,000 pro rata per year, with some organisations choosing to exceed this.
Our graduates are highly sought after in many different roles and many of our graduates secure careers in the financial sector. Some of our recent graduates have gone on to graduate roles at Deloitte, Ernst and Young, Lloyds TSB, KPMG, Natwest, John Lewis, British Museum, UK Border Agency, Orange and Sainsbury's.

The ability to think logically and abstractly, to solve problems and to model real-world phenomena are sought after by employers. Given City’s location many recent graduates have been employed by large firms in the financial or industrial sector, while others have gone into education, Civil Service and research.

General requirements
- 'A' Level: 136 UCAS tariff points or AAB at 'A' Level, including Mathematics or Further Mathematics at 'A' Level grade A
- BTEC: DD with an 'A' Level grade A in Mathematics
- Extended Project Qualification (EPQ): We welcome applications that include the EPQ. Where relevant, this may be included in our offer, resulting in an 'A' Level offer reduced by one grade
- IB: 34 points, including Higher Level Mathematics at grade 6
In addition, the following is required:
- GCSE: English Language grade 4 (C) or equivalent.
