Overview

The Biomedical Science (Honours) programme from Sheffield Hallam University  helps you prepare for a wide range of career options, from registered NHS roles to research, teaching and related medical disciplines. You’ll be learning and developing your skills in state-of-the-art research facilities. There’s also a unique opportunity to apply for our widening access to Medicine programme.

If you haven’t yet met the entry requirements for the course – or you’d like extra preparation before starting degree-level study – you’re welcome to join the foundation year. There’s also the option to transfer to the MSci route later for a specialist year of research-intensive study.

Accreditation

• The biomedical science degree is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and approved as a preliminary qualification for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). 

• You must register with the HCPC before you can work as a biomedical scientist in a hospital laboratory.
