You’ll work with a wide range of cameras, techniques, and approaches, exploring still and moving image, generative media, and both digital and analogue processes. You’ll learn how to present, exhibit, and communicate your work with confidence. The Photography (Hons) course at University of Huddersfield invites you to explore historical and contemporary photographic practices and cultures, alongside a range of professional pathways. Field trips, collaborative projects, and live industry briefs will inspire and expand your practice and connect you to the wider creative industries.

Your Career

This course helps you develop the skills needed for roles such as freelance photographer, studio photographer, photographic assistant, art director, visual stylist, retoucher, and producer. Graduates have also gone on to work as curators and in galleries and museums more broadly, as picture editors and archivists, or within social engagement programmes; some progress to postgraduate study. The course is also a suitable first degree for entry into teacher training. In addition, support is available for students to set up their own companies.
