Beyond these core themes there is an opportunity to specialise by selecting from optional modules. These include Security (developing firewalls, secure e-commerce transactions and anti-fraud technology), data processing (including data mining, signal processing, and advanced databases),
and Networking (enabling sensors, home appliances, entertainment and security systems to be networked to each other and the internet, creating the “internet of things”).
The MEng includes an extra year after the BEng, allowing you to study advanced modules on machine learning, music, speech, video and image processing, quality management and network modelling and performance.
The programmes prepare you for a wide range of careers related to the computing, internet and manufacturing industries.
