About

Finance is the study of the theory and practice of financial decision-making. Statistics is concerned with the drawing of objective conclusions from investigations where outcomes are subject to uncertainty or variability. The Finance and Statistics programme of the University of Glasgow combines the two to prepare students for employment in these fields.

Overview

Why study Finance and Statistics?

  • The Finance and Statistics programme of the University of Glasgow will prepare you for employment in a wide variety of contexts where financial and mathematical skills are valued - making you highly desirable to employers - and you'll benefit from guest lecturers and tutors from the financial sector.
  • The MacLaurin Society (or MacSoc), is the university's Mathematics and Statistics Society. Named after the Scottish mathematician Colin MacLaurin, it has been running since the 1950s and provides a supportive and friendly atmosphere for students in the School.
