Overview

The Applied Mathematics program in the Faculty of Science includes a range of courses from mathematics, statistics, computing and physics.

Applied mathematics traditionally consists of areas of mathematics which are closely related to the physical sciences and engineering, but nowadays sophisticated mathematical tools are used across many disciplines, and applied mathematics has become increasingly computationally oriented.

The Department of Mathematics at Simon Fraser University offers an applied mathematics major program. Students interested in applied mathematics may also wish to consider the joint honours program in mathematics and computer science, and the mathematical physics honours program, both of which include a substantial number of applied mathematics courses.
