About

The Law programme offered at the Aston University  is a qualifying law degree, developed with input from the legal profession. The core and optional modules enable you to tailor your studies to reflect your interests and career aspirations. By doing this degree you will gain more than legal knowledge, you will also develop essential professional and soft skills to enhance your employability.

Overview

The opportunity to undertake an extended research project (dissertation) is also be provided. As with our LLB Law with Management programme, the LLB is a qualifying law degree and focuses on law and legal practice in a commercial context. 

Career prospects 

This Law degree offered at the Aston University is an option for those who want to become a solicitor or barrister. It has been designed to help students acquire the knowledge and skills they need to become successful legal practitioners. A degree in law also provides an excellent foundation for other careers where legal knowledge is important including taxation, human resource management, accountancy, regulation and compliance.

Examples of positions our graduates have obtained include Associate Consultant Trainee Paralegal, Negotiations Case Handler, Legal Assistant, Corporate Client accounts support, Travel money advisor and Banking Customer Services Advisor at organisations such as Hays Legal, Shoosmiths, DAC Beachcroft, Irwin Mitchell, Capita and HSBC.

Accreditation

This is a qualifying law degree. It is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and Bar Standards Board (BSB) as satisfying the academic stage of legal training for solicitors or barristers. As an Aston LLB graduate you can therefore proceed directly to the Legal Practice Course or Bar Professional Training Course.
