Description
The Ernest Edward Scholarship was established in memory of Ernest Edward Crummack through a generous donation from Aston alumnus Matthew Crummack.
The scholarship supports asylum seekers and individuals with temporary immigration status who wish to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate studies at Aston University. In addition to financial support, scholars receive tailored assistance, mentoring, language support where needed, and access to university facilities and services.
Benefits
The scholarship provides a full tuition fee waiver, support with accommodation and living costs, and additional non-cash support. Undergraduate awards are worth up to £45,000 over the duration of the programme, while postgraduate taught awards are worth up to £20,000. Scholars also receive language support, Sports Aston membership, professional mentoring, and support from Aston Students' Union.
Eligibility
- Must have applied for an eligible course at Aston University.
- Most three-year undergraduate and one-year postgraduate taught programmes are eligible.
- Medicine and nursing programmes are excluded.
- Must be living in the UK.
- Must be an asylum seeker or the partner/dependant of an asylum seeker; or
- Must be an unsuccessful asylum seeker or refugee, or the partner/dependant of one, who has been granted Discretionary Leave to Remain (DLR) or another form of temporary status.

Applicants must first receive an offer for an eligible Aston University programme. They can then request an application form from the Ernest Edward Scholarship Team. Shortlisted candidates may be invited to an online interview with Aston University staff.
