You’ll learn in a supportive academic environment, guided by experienced podiatry educators and health science experts from across the University’s College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. The programme is designed to provide a comprehensive education in podiatric medicine, grounded in the best available evidence across both theory and practice.
This professionally accredited degree is approved by CORU, the statutory regulator for podiatrists in Ireland.
We welcome applications from school leavers, international students, as well as mature applicants. We are committed to providing a comprehensive education for Podiatrists, and the curriculum is based on available evidence in relation to both theory and practice.
Throughout the course, you’ll gain a strong foundation in podiatric medicine, balancing academic learning with real-world experience:
- Acquire the knowledge, skills and professional values required to meet the standards of proficiency as a podiatrist as set out by CORU
- Demonstrate clinical competence in the assessment, diagnosis, planning, and management of a wide range of foot and lower limb conditions, including musculoskeletal, dermatological, vascular and neurological presentations
- Practice as an autonomous healthcare professional, making evidence-informed decisions using critical reasoning, clinical judgement, and reflective practice in line with CORU’s Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics
- Deliver person-centred podiatric care that promotes patient dignity, autonomy, and shared decision-making
- Communicate with patients, carers and other professionals, and demonstrate effective teamwork and inter-professional collaboration
- Engage with current research, ensuring safe and accountable care delivery.

General requirements
- Minimum Grade H5 in two subjects and passes in four other subjects at O6/H7 Level in the Leaving Certificate, including Irish, English, another language, Mathematics, a laboratory science subject (i.e. Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Physics with Chemistry (joint) or Agricultural Science), and any other subject recognised for entry purposes.
- Vaccinations The HSE, the School of Health Sciences and the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, require students to produce evidence that they have received the Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) and the Hepatitis B (Hep B) vaccinations.
