Conservation of Cultural Heritage (Hons) University of Lincoln

Overview

You'll study in our high-specification, purpose-built laboratories within the University's Peter de Wint Building. During this time, you'll have the opportunity to develop expertise across a wide range of materials, time periods, and collections in their historical context.

The city of Lincoln is bursting with history and the city's rich cultural heritage makes it an ideal location in which to study conservation. The course from University of Lincoln covers a wide range of topics, such as remedial treatment, preventive conservation and collections management, and investigative and digital heritage techniques. There may also be opportunities to work with the University's commercial conservation consultancy, Lincoln Conservation.

Placements

The second year features an optional 12 week placement, which can be taken full time, or part time alongside optional modules. Students have the opportunity to source their own work placement in a museum, historic house, or a private conservation studio either in the UK or overseas. Tutors can provide support in obtaining placements when required. Recent placement destinations have included the Tate Modern in London, Manx Museum, Isle of Man, and The Leather Conservation Centre in Northampton.
