Overview

Our Psychology (Hons) course is built around five key areas of psychology, set by the British Psychological Society (BPS). You’ll explore how the human mind has developed over time, using ideas from evolution to understand why we think and behave the way we do.

You’ll shape your studies around what interests you and where you want to go in your career. In your final year, you can choose from modules like mental health, addiction, and clinical neuropsychology.

This course is approved by the BPS. If you graduate with a 2:2 or above, you can gain Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC). This is an important first step towards becoming a professional psychologist.

Careers

A psychology degree can take you in lots of different directions. You might follow a traditional psychology career, or use your skills in other areas that value how you think and work with people. For example:

General requirements

Our typical offer is 104-120 UCAS Tariff points, from a combination of acceptable Level 3 qualifications. These may include A Levels, T Levels, BTEC Diplomas/Extended Diplomas, Scottish and Irish Highers, Access to HE Diplomas, or the International Baccalaureate. T Levels must be in a related subject.
You also need three passes at GCSE grade C or above. This must include maths and English language, or a minimum of Level 2 Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number. If you've studied for a GCSE that has a numerical grade, you'll need to achieve a grade 4 or above.
