Overview
Delivered by AUB's Faculty of Engineering, students earn a CYQAA-accredited degree in Pafos, Cyprus. The compulsory Beirut Residency provides hands-on exposure to real infrastructure environments. Launching fall 2026.
This four-year BS is planned by AUB Mediterraneo, the Cyprus twin campus of the American University of Beirut, with a focus on civil engineering, sustainable infrastructure, construction materials, structural design, environmental engineering, climate-aware design, transportation, geotechnical engineering, hydrology, and earthquake engineering. The Civil Engineering and Sustainable Design course at American University of Beirut - Mediterraneo includes approved practical experience, engineering electives, and a capstone sustainability project. Students graduate with a CYQAA-accredited degree from AUB Mediterraneo once the programme receives final approval. Engineering programme fees apply. Merit scholarships and financial aid may be available.Learning Outcomes
Students who complete the BS in CESD program will be able to demonstrate:
- An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
- An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
- An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
- An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
- An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
- An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
- An ability to aquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.

General requirements
- AAB, including an A in Mathematics or Further Mathematics, plus two non-language subjects.
- Applicants are expected to meet the Sciences and Engineering entrance requirements: minimum SAT superscore of 1250 in Reading and Writing + Math, or ACT superscore composite of 26. Admission is also conditional on meeting the English language requirement, completing Grade 12, and submitting a certificate or diploma confirming successful completion of secondary education, such as a high school diploma, baccalaureate, or equivalent qualification.
