Turn your interest in maths into a teaching career with the BSc (Hons) Mathematics Education with QTS. This three-year degree prepares you to teach maths in secondary schools or colleges. It suits both school leavers and career changers, and builds your subject knowledge and teaching skills.

You'll study school-level maths and how to teach it well. You'll also look at the challenges students face when learning maths. The course includes at least 120 days of placements in schools and colleges, giving you hands-on experience.

When you complete the course, you gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). This allows you to teach in state schools in England. Maths teachers are in short supply, and many graduates go on to teaching roles.

Our typical offer is 104-120 UCAS Tariff points, from a combination of acceptable Level 3 qualifications which may include: A Levels, T Levels, BTEC Diplomas/Extended Diplomas, Scottish and Irish Highers, Access to HE Diplomas, or the International Baccalaureate.

You must also have five GCSEs at grade C or above, and these must include mathematics and English language, or equivalent qualifications. If you've studied for a GCSE which has a numerical grade, you'll need to achieve a grade 4 or above. We'll only accept equivalencies from equivalencytesting.com(opens in new tab).

In addition to academic qualifications, you must also:

Have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

Disclose any criminal convictions (required by DES Circular 9/93)

Complete a medical pro forma (based on DFEE Circular 8/92).
