Overview

The Premedical Program me bridges the transition from secondary education to the academic demands of medical school. Students develop scientific literacy, quantitative skills, critical thinking and the ability to interpret and apply scientific information.

The programme also introduces medical terminology and concepts relevant to human health, helping students develop the academic discipline and problem-solving abilities expected in medical education. Successful completion provides a pathway to New Anglia University ’s Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme.

Programme Structure

The curriculum comprises 90 credits across three academic terms.
Term I establishes the core scientific and quantitative foundation through Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Algebra.
Term II develops this foundation through Introduction to Biochemistry, Psychology, Introduction to Anatomy and Calculus.
Term III moves towards subjects more closely connected with medical education through Medical Terminology, Introduction to Physiology, Introduction to Microbiology and Sociology.
Each term carries 30 credits.

Audience

The Premedical Program is designed for high school graduates planning to pursue medicine who need further academic preparation before entering the Doctor of Medicine program. It is particularly suited to students who want to develop a stronger scientific foundation and prepare themselves for the academic requirements of medical education.

Lecturers

Teaching is provided by faculty whose academic expertise covers the different disciplines included in the Premedical Program, including biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, mathematics, psychology, and sociology. Students receive subject-focused instruction and academic guidance designed to support their preparation for further medical education.

Applicants should have completed high school or hold an equivalent secondary education qualification. The Premedical Program is intended for students planning to continue into medical education who would benefit from further preparation in the sciences before beginning the Doctor of Medicine program.
Admission decisions take into consideration an applicant’s previous academic background and overall suitability for medical studies. Candidates may also be invited to participate in an admissions interview. Where applicable, applicants are required to satisfy New Anglia University’s English language requirements.

Participation in the program requires students to have their own laptop computer and a reliable internet connection for online learning, assessments, communication, and access to University platforms and educational materials.
