International Relations

The International Relations and Italian course offered by University of Malta gives you a perspective about how bureaucratic decisions by hegemonic countries and the intervening action of administrative boards, state officials and elected representatives create a complex web of intercountry relations.

During the course they will provide you with a coherent and clear image of how Western, European and Non-European countries coalesce, ranging from topics such as understanding foreign policy of USA and international economics, to international relations since 1919 and conflict resolution, to name a few.

They also encourage you to participate in our Erasmus+ mobility programme, as they believe a multicultural perspective will provide a holistic academic journey.

Applicants wishing to join the part-time mode must submit their application as full-time, and then include a note in the comments box of the application form, denoting their preference to be considered for the part-time option. Such requests will be considered by the Board of the Faculty.

Italian

The programme of study in Italian will give you an academic perspective of the language, literature and culture of the Mediterranean country. Being an important historical country, it is inevitable that it has been influential in a variety of ways.

During the course they will broaden your literary horizons with a keen focus on Dante Alighieri's Epic poetry, along with other notable Roman and Italian figures who have contributed to its national literature.

Apart from studying modern and contemporary Italian literature in its visual mediums, they will also refine your morphological, syntactical and lexical abilities in the target language. They also encourage you to participate in our Erasmus+ mobility programme for a diversified and multicultural academic experience.

Careers

As a graduate of this programme of study you will be employable, both locally and internationally, as an intelligence analyst, policy office political risk analyst, international aid worker, public affairs consultant, diplomatic service officer and as a civil service fast streamer. General requirements

The General Entry Requirements are the Matriculation Certificate and a pass at grade 5 or better or at SEC Level 3 in the Secondary Education Certificate examinations in English Language, Maltese and Mathematics.

The Matriculation Certificate comprises six subjects and is awarded if students obtain a certain number of points including passes in a language, a science subject and a humanistic subject as well as a pass in a subject entitled ‘Systems of Knowledge’. Two of the six subjects must be at Advanced Level, three others at Intermediate Level and Systems of Knowledge.

An Advanced Level pass at Grade C or better, in either Arabic, or Economics, or French, or German, or History, or Russian, or Spanish, or a pass in Chinese obtained in the Chinese University/College Entrance Examination (Gaokao).

An Advanced or Intermediate Level pass at Grade C or better in Italian.
