Careers
Do you dream of being head coach for your favourite sports team? Can you see yourself honing the skills and building the confidence of elite athletes? Or would you like to inspire children and young adults to keep fit and active?
The BSc (Hons) Sports Science, Physical Education and Coaching degree prepares you to develop and deliver evidence-based exercise and fitness training at an individual or team level and in a sport, educational, occupational or health setting, here in the UK or abroad.
It acts as a solid foundation for the journey to become a PE teacher, which some of our graduates choose to do. You will need to complete Initial Teacher Education or Training (ITET) by way of the one-year, full-time Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). The University teaches the PGCE Secondary Physical Education through the medium of Welsh or English language.
Since the content of this degree aligns to the structure and guidelines of BASES Undergraduate Endorsement Scheme (BUES), with further experience and training, it could also act as a springboard into a career as a BASES accredited sport and exercise scientist.
Your options aren’t limited to education and sport: your knowledge of health, exercise, nutrition and wellbeing can be transferred to roles in the armed forces, emergency services, medical sales, health and fitness club management, weight management, health promotion, and corporate health advice.
