Overview
The additional foundation year helps you better prepare for degree-level study, giving you a taste of learning at this higher level. On successful completion, you will join Year 1 of the Law LLB (Hons) degree programme.
In addition to academic writing and presentation, you will learn how to conduct independent research, retrieving information from a range of appropriate sources, including cases, statutes, and other legal sources. This develops the same legal research skills you would employ in a future career and will help you during your LLB.
The LLB is seen as a traditional ‘steppingstone’ to becoming a solicitor or barrister, however, a degree in law develops lots of practical competencies: research skills, an analytical mind, the ability to listen, form sound arguments, read and quickly process complex information.
