Overview

The BA (Hons) Fashion Design at the NABA London campus is an English-taught, three-year programme structured as a continuous creative laboratory, with research, experimentation and making informing every stage of the design process. It develops the cultural, technical and methodological skills required within the international fashion system while helping students establish an individual approach to fashion design.

Throughout the programme, students progress through:

Fashion design foundations: Fashion drawing, textile making and basic pattern development provide the basis for researching and developing collections.
Collection development: Womenswear, knitwear, advanced construction and market-led design strengthen the ability to translate concepts into coherent fashion outcomes.
Digital and visual communication: Digital prototyping, 3D modelling, photography, fashion video and styling expand how collections can be developed, presented and communicated.
Collaborative practice: Interdisciplinary workshops and marketing projects encourage students to work across different perspectives while developing creative independence.

This is a single-track programme with no formal specialisations. The BA (Hons) Fashion Design carries 360 UK credits and is awarded by Regent’s University London.

The BA (Hons) Fashion Design is also available in combination with the Foundation Course, designed to provide students with the cultural and methodological foundations needed to successfully undertake the three-year degree.

Accreditation

The BA (Hons) programmes delivered at the NABA London campus are validated by Regent’s University London, which is responsible for awarding the degrees. Graduates therefore receive an internationally recognised qualification from the University. Confirmed in April 2026, the partnership is reviewed periodically, with its next review due in 2031.

Programme Structure

The BA (Hons) Fashion Design at the NABA London campus follows a three-year progression, with interdisciplinary workshops throughout:

First year: Students build foundations in design methodology, drawing and making. Fashion drawing, basic patterns, prototyping and textile making introduce garment development, supported by computer graphics, art history, costume history and the fashion system.
Second year: Students progress to womenswear, knitwear and market-led fashion design. Pattern development, digital prototyping and textile drawing strengthen technical practice, while contemporary arts, fashion video, semiotics and photography expand their visual language.
Third year: Students complete a final fashion project spanning research, design, textiles, synthesis and production. 3D modelling, marketing, new digital technologies, fashion styling and career perspectives support the development and presentation of an individual body of work.

Direct entry to a three-year BA (Hons) at the NABA London campus requires:

Age and qualifications: Applicants must be at least 18 when the course begins. UK applicants normally need 80 UCAS tariff points or an equivalent qualification, such as A Levels at grades BB, a BTEC National Extended Diploma at MMP or a Foundation Diploma with a Pass. EU and international qualifications are assessed individually using recognised UK comparison frameworks.
English: Applicants must demonstrate CEFR B2 proficiency, equivalent to IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no component below 5.5, or another recognised qualification at the same level.
Documents: An application form, certified academic records including notarised copies of the secondary school diploma and certificates, official English translations where required, a passport copy and a signed personal statement. A portfolio or project assignment may be requested for some courses.
