Overview
Throughout the Education, Digital Learning and Technology with placement year (Hons) course from the University of Gloucestershire you’ll explore digital learning, online education, access and inclusion, and the ethical challenges of an increasingly digital society.
The course encourages you to think critically about technology rather than simply learning how to use it. You’ll consider how digital tools affect learners’ experiences, wellbeing and opportunities, and how education can respond responsibly to technological change.
This degree is ideal for students interested in future-focused education roles, digital learning design and inclusive approaches to technology in education. It also provides a strong foundation for postgraduate study and professional development.
Career opportunities:
Graduates of this course are well prepared for education roles that engage with digital learning, technology and innovation. Typical career pathways include learning technologist, assistant learning technologist, digital learning developer, e-learning content assistant, digital inclusion officer and blended learning support roles.
Graduates may work in schools, colleges, universities, charities, training providers and community organisations, supporting online learning, digital education projects and technology-enhanced teaching. The course also supports progression into training and development roles where digital skills and educational insight are valued.
The course develops critical understanding of how technology shapes learning, participation and access, alongside transferable skills such as digital communication, collaboration, project work and ethical decision-making. Graduates are able to engage thoughtfully with technology rather than simply use tools, which is increasingly important across education and training sectors.
This degree also provides a strong foundation for postgraduate study in education, digital learning, learning design or related professional routes, supporting long-term career development in a rapidly evolving field.
