Overview

The Computer Science BSc is a six-semester undergraduate programme comprising 180 ECTS credits. It offers a balanced combination of strong theoretical foundations and practice-oriented professional training in computer science and software development. The programme prepares graduates both for successful careers in the international IT market and for further studies at the MSc level.

The curriculum covers the core disciplines of computer science, including calculus, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, probability and statistics, theory of computation, data structures and algorithms, numerical methods, and the fundamentals of artificial intelligence. Together, these subjects provide a solid analytical background and a deep understanding of computational thinking and principles.

Professional IT education focuses on software-oriented technologies and systems. Students develop advanced programming skills and study modern programming paradigms and languages, software engineering and system development methodologies, database systems, operating systems, computer architectures, computer networks, distributed systems, and web and mobile application development. Strong emphasis is placed on problem solving, code quality, documentation, system testing, and the use of contemporary development tools.

The programme features project-based courses and teamwork-oriented assignments, enabling students to apply their knowledge in realistic development environments. In the advanced stages of the programme, students may choose from a wide range of elective professional modules, allowing them to specialise in areas such as data science, artificial intelligence, software development technologies, information security, computer networks, multimedia systems, virtual and augmented reality, IoT systems, or applied informatics.

An eight-week (320-hour) supervised professional internship is an integral part of the programme, providing valuable hands-on industry experience. The degree is completed with a two-semester thesis project, during which students independently develop, document, and defend a software- or research-oriented topic under academic supervision. Several courses are offered partly or fully in English, and the use of English-language professional literature is an essential component of the programme.

Practical experience is ensured through an 8-week (320-hour) supervised internship, and the studies conclude with a two-semester thesis project. The recommended mobility window for international exchange is the 5th and/or 6th semester.
