Overview

In the field of law, the graduate has a cross-cutting knowledge of the different branches of law and is able to identify the interrelationships between them. The graduate has a comprehensive systematic and analytical knowledge of the various legal disciplines of positive public and private law, which he or she can perceive in the context of international law and European Union law, as well as in a historical context. Specifically, this knowledge relates to:

• historical aspects of law

• theory of law, the rule of law and the principles of the organisation and operation of the state

• The Constitution of the Slovak Republic, the theory of separation of powers, constitutional review, sovereignty of the people, direct and indirect democracy,

• methods and forms of operation in public administration and the basic institutes of administrative law,

• substantive civil law

• International Law

Key Facts

Being aware of the methodology of interpretation, application of law and fact-finding, the gradute has the skill to independently propose a solution to a specific legal situation. The graduate has sufficient information and digital literacy. 

Thus, he/​she appreciates current systems and ways of obtaining legally relevant information (legal regulations and related documents, case law of national and international courts and administrative authorities, professional and scientific legal literature). He/​she is able to link national and international case-law and the current state of legal doctrine to specific legal situations and issues. 

The graduate is able to work with legal texts and other sources in English and French, as well as to read and comprehend professional legal texts in a foreign language and professionally express himself/​herself in a foreign language.
