Overview
The Game Programming (Honours) course from Niagara College provides opportunities to explore the game space from every angle. You’ll gain a broad understanding of this complex field as you look at game programming, multiple game engines, game platforms, and various design and production paradigms. You’ll also examine core issues that surround games such as the creative and cultural context of games, the history of games, play, agency, narrative, dynamics and immersion.
Intensive production courses are offered in Years 2, 3, and 4 of the programme. In these courses you’ll work on collaborative teams to create advanced game components and prototypes, and ultimately produce fully realized games.

General requirements
Minimum overall average on six 4U or 4M courses, including prerequisites, of 70%* plus the OSSD
Required Subjects: English (ENG4U), Advanced Functions (MHF4U) (min.70%) or Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U) (min.70%)
Recommended Subject: Computer and Information Sciences (ICS4M)
Applicants are required to submit a Statement of Interest.
Technological requirements
- We usually recommend desktop PCs with dual monitors for the best experience. Higher end laptops can be used as well but consider purchasing a second monitor that can be connected to the laptop. Dual monitors are preferred due to the number of applications you’ll be working with. Single monitors will work as well, it’s just less efficient to work with.
