Overview

The goal of the Economics of Markets and Organizations bachelor’s program is to give students a comprehensive understanding of the economic principles that govern markets and industries, with a focus on analyzing market dynamics, competition, and industry structures.

The program prepares graduates to tackle complex economic challenges and to design effective strategies for both the public and private sectors.

By combining the strengths of two leading institutions — CERGE-EI, a top research center in economics, and FPH VŠE, a faculty known for its business and management focus — the program offers students a truly unique perspective.

Programme Structure

The curriculum is built around five interconnected study blocks:

Economics & Economic Behavior (ECON) – foundations of micro- and macroeconomics, decision-making of individuals, firms, and governments.
Management & Entrepreneurship (BUS) – insights into leadership, organizational design, and innovation.
Markets & Market Contexts (CONTXT) – understanding industries, competition, and regulatory frameworks.
Applications (APPLIED) – applying theories to real-world case studies, projects, and problem-solving.
Methodology (METHOD) – quantitative methods, statistics, econometrics, and programming tools for data analysis.

Together, these areas provide students with a solid academic foundation and the skills to analyze, interpret, and influence how markets and organizations function.

Audience

Each cohort is planned to have 25–30 students, ensuring a close-knit learning environment and plenty of opportunities for interaction with faculty and peers.

Lecturers

Students will benefit from leading experts from both CERGE-EI and FPH VŠE, gaining insights from research and practical applications in economics, markets, and organizational management.
